HK Winter Wonderland

When we first heard of The Toy Storyland finally opening in HK Disneyland, my husband and I have decided it was time for us to take our daughter to the ‘happiest place on earth’ – Disneyland! We also specifically chose the winter time to go because none of us had experienced winter ever! We weren’t expecting snow, but oh boy, we wanted to feel the COLD! It was exciting for us because it was our first time to travel abroad as a family! It was also the first time for my husband and I to travel without a local tourguide, or a formal itenerary  to follow for that matter. So it was basically us on our own, following our own travel rules! Oh what fun we had!  We rode the bus, rode the train, walked for hours, missed some stops, got lost, and even overslept for some days! It was part of our exciting adventure.   My daughter was the most excited among us. She couldn’t sleep for days. She was 5 years old then, and boy being in Mickey Land was heaven for her. What made it extra special was we also celebrated my husband’s birthday at Disneyland. He was given an an extra pin and some birthday stash as a token!

On our first day, we chose to tour around the city  first and didn’t go to Disneyland right away.  It was also a good way for us to ‘feel’ the cold and decide if we needed thicker clothes for THE DAY we were going to spend in Disneyland. It was also a good way for us to test our TRAIN ROUTE proficiency.  My husband assigned me to manage our train route, and for that I think I did a great job! Really! If you can read and just comprehend ENGLISH, you can easily move yourself around the city without getting lost. THe route maps are no brainer. Very easy to understand even for a child.

Since we bunked initially in a Condominium Unit in Downtown HK, we decided to just tour around Kowloon Area (where we were at) and do some sightseeing at a few free parks I have read about online. We also wanted to try out this raved about BREAKFAST nook in Jordan St. which we were so curious about. It claimed to have the best scrambled eggs and toast in the whole wide world.  Did they deliver? Check out our pictures on our first day.

Excited to go! Still at Mactan Airport.Nicole was so excited to go! Picture taken at the Mactan International Airport.

Getting ready to board the train at Kowloon! Off To Jordan we go!

???????????????????????????????

The line in Australian Dairy was too long. It was a very cold morning and we were freezing cold in the street.

I wondered what made this place special. Nothing significant in there.  The ‘world’s tastiest scrammbled egg was just like my over own homecooked egg’ nye,he,he, what a bummer!

Nicole had a great time using this walk-alator. It’s her first time!

It’s so beautiful in there. Much more, it’s for FREE! You do not need a penny to get in.

We braved the streets just like the local hongkies.

We ended the day at the Victoria Harbour. It was getting to be so cold and so late. It was a tiring day but our confidence in getting around by ourselves was getting higher!
